Clyde Gateway East

The development of this formerly vacant and derelict 14 hectare site got underway in mid-2010 with the aim of providing a sustainable, high-quality environment to attract and support growing businesses. The first phase of work, involving the installation of all the main infrastructure, including IT and energy systems, was completed by August 2011 by which time two leading UK property companies had concluded deals to invest £14million in the speculative construction of industrial space within three units.  A fourth unit was subsequently completed in 2014 and work got underway on a fifth unit in June 2016.

The three units have already brought more than 100 jobs in oil and gas (Glacier Energy Services), telecommunications (BT) and industrial supplies (Cusack).

“Our relocation to Clyde Gateway was driven by a need to ensure we had a modern, fit-for-purpose base from which to grow our business, somewhere that fits the Glacier brand and our reputation for quality.

Our team has settled very quickly and we continue to expand our skilled employee base, delivering job opportunities for the local community as well as providing our existing employees with a high-standard environment in which to work.”

Scott Martin, Chairman, Glacier Energy Services

The economic spin-offs have been immediate with Glacier expanding its operations and increasing its workforce by 50%, including the creation of six positions in trainee welding, production management and administrative support specifically for local residents.
