Eastgate – a purpose-built office block that is home to almost 500 staff
Local residents have been recruited into the CSG workforce
Economic Regeneration > Eastgate
Just 300 yards east of Bridgeton Cross is the location of Eastgate, a £10m office development which in April 2012 became the new Headquarters Building for Community Safety Glasgow (CSG). It is home to almost 500 staff whose responsibilities are to tackle anti-social behaviour, promote community safety and prevent crime.
Eastgate was built at a cost of £10 million in just fourteen months. It is just over 6,000 square metres in size and with a rating of BREEAM Excellent meaning that the CSG team is housed in one of the most efficient, flexible, well-designed and high quality offices in the country.
In addition to bringing so many permanent jobs to the Clyde Gateway area, the construction contract for Eastgate saw as many as 150 workers on-site during the fit-out phase with the community benefit clauses within the contract delivering 20 new full-time jobs and 50 training and work experience opportunities for local residents.
CSG has also been keen to recruit local talent into its workforce and in 2013 a joint programme involving Clyde Gateway together with Jobs and Business Glasgow saw thirty local residents taken on into a range of roles including CCTV monitoring, van driving, office administration and as uniformed community enforcement officers working directly in the front-line in making Glasgow a safer and cleaner place.
