A new outdoor keep fit initiative is to be offered free of charge, thanks to the support of Clyde Gateway.

Starting on Wednesday 22 August, and running for a 10-week duration, the 1-hour Boot Camp class will take place in the Cuningar Loop Woodland Park, delivered by ‘Workout Weegie’, a locally-based business geared around personal training and fitness which featured in the BBC Alba programme examining Commonwealth Games Legacy that aired in April 2018.

Bootcamp exercise sessions are designed to take place outside and for groups of people of all ages and all abilities with the new class in Cuningar making full use of the park’s natural elements and environment.

Clare Ferry, Project Manager at Clyde Gateway said: “The BBC Alba programme highlighted the popularity of Workout Weegie and the idea behind the new class is to have it at a time which meets the needs of residents who might be busy throughout the rest of the day or unable to become involved in this type of activity for all sorts of reasons. It will introduce them to a flexible method of outdoor exercise together with offering the opportunity to meet new people, reduce isolation and improve physical and mental health.”

The classes will all begin at 9.30am and last 45 minutes, accommodating up to 20 people at a time, with the meeting point being in the Plaza area next to the footbridge.

Places can be reserved in advance by calling Workout Weegie on 07891 484 777 or by e-mailing :
