M74 motorway
The five-mile completion of the M74 from Cambuslang to Tradeston in Glasgow is of huge significance to Clyde Gateway. The contract to construct the £445 million road was approved in February 2008. Work began three months later, opening at the end of June 2011, nine months ahead of schedule.
The partnership project involved Transport Scotland, Glasgow City Council, plus South Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire councils. More details available at this webpage.
This new section of the M74 contains three new four-way junctions, all within the Clyde Gateway area:-
- Junction 1a is at Polmadie Road in the south-west corner of Clyde Gateway, just two minutes' drive from our major new investment opportunities on either side of the river Clyde in South Dalmarnock at the newly designated National Business District in Shawfield.
- Junction 2 is on the A726 at Cambuslang Road in Rutherglen, adjacent to a major private-sector development by Ashfield Land. It is less than five minutes from the Clyde Gateway Trade Park and the Red Tree Business Suites in Rutherglen, which are examples of our development and investment opportunities.
- Junction 2a is situated at Fullarton Road at the eastern edge of Clyde Gateway, approximately four miles from Glasgow city centre. It is adjacent to Clyde Gateway East - the newest and best-connected business park in Scotland and another of our development and investment opportunities.
