Regeneration in Action
Our 20-year objectives and targets (until 2028) are ambitious:
- To deliver £1.5 billion of private-sector investment
- To build 400,000 sq.m. of business space
- To create more than 20,000 jobs – many targeted at local residents
- To construct 10,000 new houses – from starter flats to family homes
- To increase, by 20,000, the east Glasgow/South Lanarkshire population.

Clyde Gateway is at the heart of a physical, social and economic regeneration programme that will change the image, perception and fortunes of its communities.
We are about giving local residents access to more jobs, improved educational attainment, better health services and a safer environment.
We are about working alongside existing agencies and people in the local communities to ensure that all the social, economic and physical regeneration activities are co-ordinated to the best effect.
We are about reducing the amount of derelict and contaminated land, along with delivering substantial investment into physical infrastructure improvements, such as the water and sewerage systems which have, for many years, limited development in Bridgeton, Dalmarnock, Rutherglen and Shawfield.
We are about helping to ensure that the housing choice across our communities increases, including affordable family units to rent and to purchase.
The vision for Clyde Gateway, as set out in our original 2007 Business Plan approved by the partners is:-
"of a dynamic and sought after city location, with a strong community, which will attract major investment and establish itself as one of the foremost place in the West of Scotland to live and work, supporting Glasgow’s ambition to be a world class city-region"
