Athletes' Village

The 2014 Athletes' Village will occupy a massive 38-hectare site bordered by the Clyde, Springfield Road and Dalmarnock Road opposite NISA and the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.

After housing 6,500 athletes and officials, the location will accommodate an initial 700 houses and flats, some for purchase and others for rent through a number of community-based social registered landlords, together with a 120-bed care home for the elderly. Further phases at the Athletes Village have plans for another 765 homes, shops and commercial property.

Construction, by the City Legacy consortium, began in spring 2011. City Leagcy is made up of three housebuilders -McTaggart & Mickel, Crudens and CCG - along with Malcolm Construction.

The project will create 620 jobs, including 84 apprentices.
