Our ability to deliver community benefits through our approach to procurement is unique. We consider the project design and construction phases, as well as our service contracts. We also "buy-in" from our partners and contractors.
The construction of Clyde Gateway East, the Olympia Theatre, Eastgate, the two Red Tree Business Suite developments, along with the restoration of the Olympia Theatre and each of our early environmental projects, all provided residents with work and training.
An example of our Community Benefits outwith the construction contracts can be seen from our partnership with Matthews Marketing, the company appointed to provide the Red Tree Business Suites with specialist support and advice. As part of their contract, they had to support a local community group and this was identified as the Rutherglen Credit Union. Staff from Matthews produced a marketing plan for the Credit Union which included developing ideas to increase membership, and also helped secure a South Lanarkshire Council grant towards the costs of designing and printing promotional material.
Another example is Crudens, the main contractor for the Red Tree Business Suites Bridgeton, carrying out £6000 worth of improvements, including the creation of a new garden, at the Bridgeton Community Learning Campus in Dale Street.
Other companies and consultants with which we're involved have worked with local pupils on projects, while PR Print, our Dalmarnock-based design and print supplier, sponsored a Bridgeton pensioners' Christmas party.
All of our Community Benefit clauses are mandatory, and incur no additional cost to Clyde Gateway.
