SCOTTISH OPERA IS COMING TO THE EAST END

Scottish Opera’s Pop-Up Opera, performed in fully accessible travelling opera house which is designed to look like a miniature Theatre Royal Glasgow, is coming to the east end on Sunday 19 August.

The performances are being hosted by West of Scotland Housing Association with the location being the car park of its head office in Camlachie at 40 Barrowfield Drive, adjacent to Gallowgate, halfway between Bridgeton Cross and the Emirates Arena.

The Pop-Up Opera shows are 25-minutes in length, for audiences of all ages, and brought to life by a storyteller, singers, musicians and a series of colourful illustrations. The Camlachie show will see two performances of ‘Be A Sport Spike’, a new show for children specially commissioned for the Glasgow 2018 Championships, and one performance of ‘A Little Bit of HMS Pinafore’, an adaptation of the well-known comic opera composed by Gilbert and Sullivan.

‘Be A Sport Spike’ will be performed at 12noon and 2pm, with ‘A Little Bit of HMS Pinafore’ getting underway at 3pm.

All performances are free of charge but advance booking is advised as audience capacity within the travelling opera house is limited. Tickets can be obtained by calling the West of Scotland Housing Association on 0141 550 5664.
