The Community

Artist in
Residence

The Velocity Artist in Residence is a partnership-supported, programme embedded within the Clyde Gateway area; linking audiences and communities to community centres, libraries, existing art, heritage and sports development groups as well as to elite sporting venues used as part of the 2014 Commonwealth Games and 2018 European Championships.

The focus of the residency is to work with all ages and abilities to celebrate and feel part of this incredible, flourishing place, whilst using arts to support well-being.

The residency takes place in nurseries, schools, community centres, care homes, sporting venues and non-traditional arts or cultural spaces such as Cuningar Woodland Park.

Developing transferable skills in relation to personal development and sharing these with others is a key aim.

The creative programme also links with wider partnership activity such as the Thriving Places (Community Planning Partnership), summer school programmes and more recently online learning for home schooling.
